    Acute Medical Services

    Should you or a family member need admission for a medical condition, the Burnett Ward is well supported by a team of nurses, allied health professionals and medical consultants to ensure your care is well managed.

    If your admission is via the Emergency Department you may be admitted to a ward at the South Eastern Private Hospital site depending on availalbility of beds.

    Acute Surgical Services

    Our hospital is equipped with advanced medical, surgical and diagnostic technology including a state of the art digital operating theatre.

    Allied Health

    Allied Health consists of a team of health professionals working closely with our medical specialists and nursing team to provide co-ordinated, multidisciplinary patient care to meet the individual needs of our patients.

    Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery/Otolaryngology

    This specialty covers the conditions relating to the ears, nose and throat. This covers conditions affecting adults and children including hearing loss and deafness, rhinitis, dizziness and vertigo.

    General operative procedures include insertion of grommets/middle ear ventilation tubes, tonsillectomy, rhinoplasty, septoplasty and palatoplasty.

    Emergency Department

    The Valley Private Hospital Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.


    Gastrointestinal health caters for diagnosis and treatment of medical issues such as heartburn, reflux disease, swallowing difficulties, liver disease and cancer involving the gastrointestinal tract.

    Various procedures may be required to aid in diagnosis. These include:

    • Upper GI-Gastroscopy, a scope of the upper gastro-intestinal tract (i.e. oesophagus, stomach and duodenum) to determine the existence of ulcers, Barret's oesophagus and other problems.
    • Colonoscopy, a scope of the lower gastro-intestinal tract (i.e. colon and rectum) to determine if there are pre-cancerous polyps, cancer or inflammatory bowel disease.
    • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, a scope that looks at the lower colon and rectum for pre-cancerous polyps and cancer.
    • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a procedure to diagnose possible disorders of the pancreas and bile duct system.
    General Surgery

    General surgery is a key specialty at The Valley Private Hospital with many consultants covering a wide variety of general surgery procedures.


    Gynaecology and obstetrics is located at South Eastern Private Hospital, also a member of the Healthe Care group. South Eastern is located a short ten minute drive from The Valley Private Hospital.

    Gynaecological emergencies can be seen at the Emergency Department as there are a team of gynaecologists availalble on call.

    Intensive Care

    Our onsite Intensive Care Unit provides additional support for those patients who require more intensive care and monitoring.

    If you're having major surgery or you have health conditions which may affect your recovery, your specialist may arrange for you to be transferred to our Intensive Care Unit for the immediate post operative period.

    The doctors and nursing staff in our Intensive Care Unit are specially trained to manage the care of patients at this time. We are proud of the staff and the level of care provided in this highly specialised unit.

    Have you detected or know of a heart murmur in your patient? We now have a simple, effective, no stress, one stop solution for the; assessment, evaluation, followed up management. Our group of cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons have a special interest in valve disease and will oversee your patients care from start to finish.     Pre-Admission Clinic

    Before you arrive at the hospital, your surgeon may refer you to our Pre-Admission Clinic where the nurse may take your health history, organise tests and give you information about the procedure and what will happen during your visit and plan your discharge.

    Major procedures may require a visit to the hospital prior to your admission as part of the pre admission assessment.


    Onsite radiology services are available for inpatient and outpatient requirements, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

    Short Stay Unit

    The Valley Private Hospital Short Stay Unit is designed to provide a comfortable environment where you can have your surgery or procedure and return home usually on the same day.

    Advances in medical surgery have resulted in increasing numbers of procedures now only requiring a day admission.

    Modern technology provides the highest standard of patient safety and care in this Unit, which is supported by dedicated nursing and medical staff experienced in dealing with the particular requirements of day surgery and procedures.
